FWD50 is a global digital government gathering held annually in Ottawa, Canada. Each year, technologists, executives, and industry come together for a week of content and discussion, focused on steering progress and innovation towards our better selves.

We’re covering a myriad of topics in 2020, and featuring some key speakers for each topic.

This year, one of our focuses will be around Metrics, Data and Analytics.

Data is how we keep score. Analytics keeps us honest. And even when a service can’t be improved, it can be measured. Digital government works better in part because it is accountable to itself—after all, humans are terrible at keeping track of things, but software has no choice but to do so.

Digital transformation and analytics are inextricably linked, so we’ll dig into data-driven innovation, reporting, and metrics this year.

Relevant speakers

New York City generates a lot of data. And Kelly Jin analyzes it. As Chief Analytics Officer for the City of New York, she delivers the insights that make Gotham more efficient and more equitable. She’s also worked in the White House, and with the city of Boston.

Before her work on digital integration at Sidewalk Labs, Jacqueline Lu worked as the Director of Data Analytics at the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, founding its data science team and developing an open data program. Today, she’s working on the open-source Digital Transparency in the Public Realm project to improve transparency around digital technologies in the built environment.
