Sunlight, transparency, and open data

In this session, Howard will lead an open discussion of the opportunities and challenges for good governance presented by rapid technological change. Transparency and accountability are values and principles that often have strong support in the abstract but meet strong resistance when they come up against institutions and politicians whose power or influence is challenged by reforms or disclosures. Canada and the United States have many common experiences in this arena, including the risks of political transitions and the relevance of opening data to multiple actors.
