Beth Collins is the Director of Data Policy and Legislation in the BC Data Service. She is the Chief Privacy and Security Officer for BC's Data Innovation Program and plays a key role in advancing data policy within the BC public service. She recently co-led the development of BC's Anti-Racism Data Act and is now leading the implementation of the Act.

This case study will explore the varying strategies that the federal and provincial governments in Canada are employing to address systemic gaps and lack of transparency in collection, usage, and display of race-based data with the goal of addressing systematized and institutionalized racism and discrimination while protecting the privacy of individuals and communities.
