Jessica is a Firestarter at X, The Moonshot Factory, where she contributes to the creation of radically innovative technology companies that will have 10x impact on some of the world’s hardest problems. Jessica also works with organizations that are ready to apply 10x thinking to the biggest problems facing their industry and the world.
Prior to X, Jessica was Founder, CEO and Chairwoman of Simcoach Games, a company that uses video games for interactive education, inspiration and empowerment. She led the company’s strategy and board from inception to its acquisition - as well as sales, fundraising, partnerships, and management.
Jessica also served as a professor at Carnegie Mellon University for 14 years, where she built partnerships with external organizations which drove innovative and engaging technology solutions developed with students. As part of this, she also helped to invent and commercialize dozens of interactive technology solutions, and launch, invest in or otherwise guide many technology startups affiliated with Carnegie Mellon and The University of Pittsburgh.
Jessica also serves or has served on various for-profit corporate boards (technology), large non-profit (arts institutions and healthcare), state-wide government boards (education, training and workforce development policy) and technology investment funds.
Jessica started her career in Silicon Valley driving technology innovation and startups, including at Altavista, the premier search engine in the late 90s-2000.
Jessica has been recognized as an innovator and entrepreneur, including Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” and Pittsburgh’s “Top Women in Tech.”
Jessica received her bachelors degree in both English and Theatre (cum laude) from Cornell University, and her masters in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University. She currently lives in Santa Cruz, California with her family and surfs as much as possible.
