Kristo Vaher (he/him)

Chief Technology Officer, Republic of Estonia

Kristo has worked as a senior engineer, tech team lead, consultant and technology architect in the fields of government, banking and internet media, creating applications like the one you are using right now for almost twenty years. He is most known for being an outside-the-box-thinking evangelist for API centric development and Domain Driven Design. He is a strong believer in de-centralized, non-monolithic microservice oriented architecture, which enables fast scaling and natural migration of technology. These days he is implementing AI-driven workflows and processes into digital services.

Kristo is the former CTO for the Republic of Estonia, being responsible for architecture vision, technology strategy, development principles and leading the engineering community. Currently he is the Technology Director for Digital Nation where he helps build future-ready digital societies. He is also the CTO for international GovStack initiative for designing better standards for government technologies. And he is the founder of CupOfCoffeeAI, a platform for streamlining consultation process for experts.

He is also a strong believer in Agile methodologies and frequently consults developers and start-ups. Outside work his primary hobby is board-gaming!
