Long is a research-driven designer ready to inspire equitable and empowering solutions. His role focuses on user experience and service design, using applied methodologies to engage with Seattle residents, local communities, and city departments. Long began his professional career as a UX researcher and has worked in private and public sectors to inform digital apps and programs. He is passionate about integrating the end user’s voice in the design process and is driven to make complex problems easy to understand and feasible to break through. Long holds a B.S. in Human Centered Design & Engineering from the University of Washington.

Transforming Public Services with User Research: A Case Study of Five Transformative Projects from the USDR: Seattle Research Cohort

The talk will cover the Seattle By Design Cohort, a pilot program created by U.S. Digital Response (USDR) in collaboration with the City of Seattle Innovation & Performance team. The program connected a cohort of 20 volunteer experts with city staff from 5 different departments to answer specific research questions and make recommendations using best practices in user research.
