Nick Chedli Carter (he/him)

Nick is the Managing Director of Resilient Democracy, a civic engagement initiative dedicated to a fair, inclusive, and resilient democracy. Nick’s career has spanned media, elections, and issue advocacy including positions at VICE Media, Planned Parenthood, CCTV Center for Media & Democracy, and the campaigns of US Senator Bernie Sanders, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and others. Nick has served on the investment committee for New Media Ventures, and is currently a board member of the Color of Change PAC, National Vote at Home Institute, Future Now Fund Kitchen Cabinet, the Center for Civic Design, the Movement Cooperative’s Impact Lab, the Democracy and Power Innovation Fund, and chairs the Census Digital Organizing Advisory Group.

He is currently a Harvard Kennedy School Technology and Democracy Fellow, researching initiatives and scalable practices to close the equity gap in civic technology, increase participation, and ultimately achieving a civil society that is more positively impacted by the realities of the digital age.

Nick grew up in a multiracial, multicultural household in Washington, D.C., and started his career as an Americorps volunteer at a community media center serving nonprofits and local government in rural New England.
