The messy middle: What it takes to go from problem discovery to delivery

Most case studies gloss over the parts of a project that don’t fit a neat narrative. This session doesn't. A Senior Product Manager and Service Designer go beyond the polished retrospective, into the hard conversation with leadership and the moments where walking away can be a good thing. 

Drawing on years of working in and around government across emergency management and disaster response, hiring and talent systems, public communication, and benefits delivery, we share five hard-won lessons for getting things done. Not the highlight reel but the moments of navigating unpopular decisions, the uncomfortable findings that contradict the roadmap, the pivots, and what it actually took to act on them.

This session is designed for people doing the work of government delivery. We’ll be sharing concrete actions to take, and you’ll have space to bring your own blockers. Come with your messy middles and we'll dig in together.
