Angela Murphy (she/her)

Deputy Director, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, United Kingdom

Angela Murphy has worked across government for more than 24 years on large scale IT and business change programs. As a civil servant, Angela spent much of her time in Defra working with the BCMS and the RPA. While outside of Defra she has worked with the DWP, Home Office, HMRC and Disclosure & Barring Service. At Defra Angela led the service introduction of 11 new digital services required by Defra when the UK left the EU. In addition she has key subject matter expertise having been involved in the delivery of Cattle Tracing System (CTS), CTSonline, APHIS – CTS link, Rural Land Register, Sheep and Goats Ear tag Allocation System, Cattle Statements, Cattle Passports, and OCR & ICR systems for all data capture at BCMS.

For the past 18 months Angela was the Deputy Director for Cross Cutting Technical Services in DDTS Major Projects with responsibility for Architecture, WebOps, Security, QA & Test, Delivery Assurance, Service Introduction, and Release Management. More recently Angela has taken over as Deputy Director for Digital Delivery on two environmental programmes; Extended Producer Responsibility Programme (EPR) & Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment Programme (NCEA).

Angela lives on the West Coast of Cumbria in a tiny seaside village overlooking the Irish Sea and Southwest Scotland.
