On June 3rd, we went past the breathless excitement, the fear, and the fatigue around AI to have a frank conversation about what’s really happening. Generative AI and large language models have gone from a 2020 parlour trick to tools that can distill meaning from language, perform complex knowledge work in minutes, and change how entire professions operate.

We explored a new kind of nondeterministic computing—where unexpected answers are a feature, not a bug—and wrestled with the paradox of “good enough” versus perfection, the ethical stakes, and the risk of undermining curiosity and job satisfaction.

Framed around the AI supply chain, we looked at why data matters, where to deploy imperfect tools, and how automation is reshaping jobs and creating new ones.

If you missed it live, you can still watch every practical, no-hype session and apply the lessons directly to your work in public service.
